As of 11/14/2013, this film seems to be completely out of print in North America. Most used Region 1 copies of the film are selling for at least $100 each. I would assume this has to do with a copyright conflict (possibly music rights). Does anyone know the specific reason for its disappearance?

The company that released it Fox Lorber is no longer in business. It's merely out of print as often happens.

Carlotta Films US have unveiled a new HD mater with screenings in NYC and other urban centres. Expect them to release on Blu Ray, HD Download and possibly DVD in 2014. Possibly via Criterion or Cohen Collection.
