Masochism glamorised?

As far as Almodóvar's films go it seems like one of the most morally ambiguous, Are the relationships bad or good? The 2 characters who kill each other at the end seem to gain the most fulfilment and happiness than the more ordinary/ 'nice' people?

if you try to find any sense in almodovar's films, ... you will not. for me (I am spanish), almodovar got sucess out from our contry (ans in Spain) because of the different of his lenguage and hir movies. I cannot classify as sub-rerality, or spanish-topics gone to the top.
spain is quite different fron the pictures that almodovar shows.

this is a very special film for me. it is not perfect (and very far of that), but abyway, I like the stupid idea of a man at masochism that becomes a bullfighter to feed his sexuality...
simply he finally founds his twin soul in the journalist, they have a sexual relationship and prefer the pleasure of the moment (blood, sex,& murder)till the end. it is worthwhile in their tortured minds to die because of the supreme feeling altough it means death...forever...stupid!!!

The movie just shows. It's not meant to teach you how to live or to tell what characters are good and what are bad. I think Almodóvar leaves open what he actually tries to say, and that's really good. You make the decisions, or you can leave it open in your mind as well.

One of the greatest things in this movie is that Almodóvar explores a truly exceptional and alternative kind of sexuality, and does it without judging. The beautiful passion of the loving couple creates a contrast with the viewer's (supposed) negative attitude with this kind of extreme sadomasochism. Bringing sex and death together is both a taboo and an old mythical view of things.

Eros and Thanatos are above morality.

I think movies like this are made just to be as extreme and weird as possible and usually only make sense to the creators. certainly this is a smaller film that is probably a personal film made by the directors passion and it doesn't even try to be commercial at all. and of course this would appeal to a lot of people who like these kind of crazy sexed up films that deal with such strange topics. foreign films have always done this, I don't know why but other countries seem more willing to explore sexuality then the US and personally im glad the US I different cuz if movies like this came out a lot in the US cinema's attendance mine included would go down. the director is not talking about "normal" people, hes talking about mentally irregular psychopaths who don't "make love", but have rough sex with the intent to kill there partners. that is not what most people do. sex can be rough at moments yes, but its usually soft, gentle and loving. the director has these crazies that are killers as well. not typical couples at all.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

The film isn't concerned with morality; its concern is the bullfight. This is what the main characters revolve around. The bullfight is about bravery, dignity and death. Morality is represented in the film by Angel's mother and look at what effect that has!

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.
