Time between ending of Jean De Florette and Manon?

I just watched Jean De Florette for the first time last week and loved it and am just watching Manon of the Spring for the first time (I'm about halfway through it) and am liking it very much, but have a few questions:

1) I got that her mom was off singing again and had to leave her, but does it ever say who she left her with (the lady that seems to be her guardian)?

2) They show the mom and Manon leaving at the end of the JDF but don't say where they are going (not that I remember), but apparently they stay in the area - is that as much information that is known - they just "stay in the area" somewhere? What happens to the house they lived in - do we ever find that out?

I guess that's it for now, any insight is grealy appreciated!

To answer your questions:

About halfway through MDS, during the "accusation scene" one of the characters mentions "9 or 10 years ago", which makes sense seeing as Manon's legally old enough to marry in MDS, so she must be either 8 or 9 in JDF.

1) The lady that seems to be Manon's guardian is the wife from the old couple in the first film who have the hut near the spring on Jean's land. You may remember the old woman was very thankful towards Jean when he said they could stay on his land.
2) I've always assumed after JDF that the wife and Manon went to stay with her parents. I guess their house was not lived in as I don't think it was mentioned in MDS. I've not read the books though, so there may be something mentioned in those.

Hope that helps even though it's been a few years since I've seen either film.
