How do you think Manon Felt...

later after she read the letter. Do you think she got to the point of peace and forgiveness?

If you're not taking any steps forward, you're not moving at all.

That's a very interesting question. I've wondered about that myself...

I suppose her very rational, very Christian and very boring do-gooder of a city educated husband will try to make her forgive the Soubeyrans.
How could she keep on living in this village anyway without learning the virtue of forgiveness? I mean, most of the villagers knew about the source and covered up the Soubeyran's doings so they're all guilty really. She would have to somehow forgive them or leave. Or write their names in a notebook and go all "Kill Bill" on them. I'd actually pay good money to watch Tarantino's two part remake of "Manon des Sources". It is already a revenge flick after all.

Interestingly enough though, in the novel César tells Manon in his farewell letter that the Soubeyran fortune he's leaving her is in fact for her grandchildren, not her.
