PG with a nude scene?

I clearly remember that in Manon, there is a brief scene where she dances naked while Ugolin is peeping. Great memories from Junior High School.
However, the US rating is PG... How come? Was this scene cut in the US version? It'd be the first time I heard of a PG movie with female frontal nudity

Just watched it tonight. Must be different versions. It was from some distance, and she was twirling around, but it was full nudity.

Definitely saw some pubes & it wasn't a long distance shot (though definitely not a close-up).

I agree it was a pretty dark PG film especially for the time period of the 80's.

Not only the nude scene but also that creepy sewing scene.

Maybe because it was a foreign film but that still wouldn't explain the US rating being PG. Strange how these ratings work sometimes and how they get decided.

~What if this is as good as it gets?!~

It was probably for the fact that every thing was in context - the dancing and the sewing - and wasn't inserted in the film just to sensationalize things.

I can think of a number of PG films with nudity, though they are stricter nowadays. It's just a body for goodness' sake.

I think it is acceptable because is Manon is such an innocent character. Dancing with Nature among the lovely countryside. A lovely photographed scene.
