6.1? Why all the hate?

This is a super entertaining and well done film.

Does it stand up to scientific scrutiny? No.

Will most films of a science nature stand up to scrutiny? No.

This should be rated between 7-8 and my opinion.

I like it, but my bet is people too young or too old to remember 1986 probably won't be interested.

I was in HS when this came out, so all the 80s stuff doesn't bother me. I was never interested in science either, so I don't care if it's accurate or not.

The thing about this movie that jumps out to me 30 years later is that none of the characters display anything but anger, irritation, and/or sarcasm until the very end when Dr Mathewson shows relief and elation when he and Paul make it out alive. If some of the characters showed more of a range of human emotions, it might have fared better, esp over time.

The movie is a time capsule in many ways, and should be viewed as such. The ending is terrific and worth hanging in for imo.

Yeah, I agree. At first I thought people just didn't like nerd films that didn't involve T&A but Real Genius has a 7 and October Sky has 7.8. Manhattan Project is still at 6.1. Very unfortunate.

I love this movie 7/10

6.1 sounds generous to me. This is a silly movie with more holes in it than a championship golf course. Interesting to see
Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson from House) in his first role. It was like War Games without the charm, and without Mathew Broderick.
