The inspiration for Napoleon Dynamite?

-A young, parent-less neurotic outsider with a nerdish obsession and peculiar talents must cope with the intrusion of several people on his reality, and etc. For instance, the way the older and wilder Frank Baker (John Hargreaves) character arrives on the scene and how his character plays off the Malcolm character is similar in concept and execution to the way the Uncle Rico (John Gries) character arrives and interacts with the Napoleon character.

-The Simon Jeffes/Penguin Cafe Orchestra track "Music For A Found Harmonium" is used at the beginning of MALCOLM and a cover version of it is used at the end of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE.

-Malcolm lives on Napoleon Street.

The Hess Bros. must have definitely seen MALCOLM and drawn inspiration for the basis of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE. I can see now how NAPOLEON DYNAMITE almost plays kind of like a more self-aware, more stylized neurotic humored middle-American version of MALCOLM.

@VideoKidVsTheVoid Mate I think you're onto something, though it looks like the Hess Brothers haven't acknowledged Malcolm.
