"In the Meantime" by Spacehog

I was only casually watching this movie, it was good for 80s but doesn't hold up well in my opinion but was fun despite numerous logic errors. Anyway, there's not trivia about the music in the scene with the trashcans being remote controlled. That is definitely music sampled in the popular Spacehog song from the 90s, what a neat discovery. Only question I have is "was that music created for the movie or was it pre-existing and Spacehog sampled it from it's original recording".

Anyways, Malcolm is worth a look and SPOILER it taught my kids that crime sometimes does pay.

Update: The song is actually from 1981 album by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, but still a neat discovery.

I just mentioned this in my post, too. Obviously, since the Spacehog tune came out in the mid-90s, and this film is from the mid-80s, it's Spacehog who stole that bit, not the other way around.

Not that I have a problem with Spacehog stealing it, by the way. It's a great bit to steal--glad they let more people hear it. (Though it would still be nice to give Simon Jeffes/Penguin Cafe Orchestra some credit.)

There are a bunch of things in this film that I'm surprised weren't stolen for other films, as there are so many clever ideas.
