I have the Dutch DVD?Same as Synapse?

I managed to get the "Media Madness/Studio 2602" Dutch or German DVD with subtitles, and loads of extras, and great cover art (but the backs in German?). The director on the extras claims this is the nearest one, with composite (rough) footage of extra murder, esp. near the beginning in the Asylum.

This is 66mins(Box), but runs to 69? Same as Synapse?

I used to have a bootleg of this, and it does seem gorier but I aint no expert.

Well, here are the specs for the Synapse release:

- 16:9 Anamorphic Director Supervised/Approved Version of the New "Director's Cut"

- English Audio Version

- Original VHS Version of LUCKER

- LUCKER: THE STORY BEYOND THE FILM Featurette

Since your version is under one hour, it is most likely the new cut that the director put together, which is the same as the Synapse release. The only difference would be that Synapse has the anamorphic, remastered version; I don't know if your edition has that.

The only other DVD edition of Lucker I know of is from a company called Perplex. Their R0 PAL DVD is pretty much the same as the Synapse version.

The dutch subtitles are indicative of the only print the director was left with after a law firm destroyed the negatives of Lucker. All Johan Vandewoestijne had in his possession was a video tape with burned-in subtitles. The new cut is actually a composite of alternate and spare takes and scenes rejected by the original distributer, found by the original processing lab years later! That's why it's shorter than the VHS version of Lucker.

So, your new print *is* actually gorier; many of the rejected scenes were dropped because they were too intense--at least for the first Belgian distributors.
