I think I rented this movie

I think I rented this movie once in the 80's, when I was a Ninja obsessed little kid, but remember close to nothing about it, except strangely the name, and a scene where I think the main character's mentor/sensei gets stabbed, and leaks black looking blood. Is that scene in this movie? Thanks for any help.
