This movie 'is' one of Jackie's worst. If you were moved by the hammy acting and positively embarrassing tear-jerking scenes, it is you who's the moron.

reply

Whatever you say, Roger Ebert.

You have to keep in mind most reviewers know little or nothing about Hong Kong martial arts films from the 1980s, or Asian cinema in general. After a while I just dismiss their opinion really; they're the ones missing out. For me, this is easily in Jackie's top ten film list.

reply

Good point. I'm glad someone out there appreciates that this film has worth.

People are entitled to their opinion of course but that review was pathetic.

This reviewer, and a number of other people who are deterred by a film like this, clearly haven't seen too many of Jackie's movies outside the American films which insult Jackie's talent rather than really show what he can do. He's been doing films like this for years before "Rush Hour" was even an idea on a piece of paper.

And I am not biased to Jackie. I'm just as disappointed in Jackie because he's sold himself out to American cinema and wasted his talent for the majority of the last ten years or so. But I guess everybody has to make a living somehow, and hopefully we'll be seeing some REAL Jackie Chan films in the next year or three.

Look out for "Shinjuku Incident" in late 2008 for starters.

i think this is one jackie's best movie!
this is where we could finally see him act!

reply

I think the movie is really good. And this is one of Jackie's best role.

reply

Well it´s not one of Jackies best movies BUT it sure as hell aint his worst. I'd rather watch this any given night rather than the recent venom Hollywood is spewing out. As for the reviewer, people should not talk or write about what they dont understand.

reply

thommystrmdahl you make a great point.
And in my oppinion "Heart of dragon" is one of the Jackies best movies, and surely 100.000 times better then all of rush hours, tuxedos and rest of american crap. Let me not even start about some Avatars and other high budget and even more high boring Hollywood jokes of a cinema.
I think acting was quite good here, and if people say that some of us who liked this movie are morons, just because our oppinion is different then theirs, so be it. My oppinion doesn't change because of that.
And let me conclude, that i am not some guy who thinks he's very artistic and likes only movies, which has some deep artistic value, and despides everything with lighter theme, cause if that were thrue i wouldnt be jackie chan's fan, would I?

Fair review.

Who the *beep* cares about a *beep* review? Either YOU liked the movie or YOU didn't. Someone else's opinion is irrelevant, or at most can be used as a recommendation.

reply

However little you think we should care about a review, you can be sure we care less about your philosophy on reading them.

Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right.

reply

My philosophy?

...

I read reviews, that's why I come to this site. But I don't expect every reviewer to agree with me, nor am I surprised when someone dislikes a movie I think is great and vice versa. Reviews are merely someones opinion (and you know what they say about opinions), that you can agree or disagree with. There's no need to seek a final verdict; we're not in court.

That's why I treat reviews merely as reccomendations for or against a movie, and that's why I find it rediculous when people get butthurt because someone on the internet disagrees with them.

I'm sorry if my use of expletives prevented you from getting all this from a few concise sentences, but that's not really my problem.

reply

It's better than all his American films.
