This movie has a place in my top ten best movies of all time list and I feel this has to be Jackie's best dramatic performance as well as an excellent performance put forward by his co-star Sammo Hung, do any of you guys feel the same or do you feel he has yet to prove himself as a capable actor?

Jackie and Sammo give great performances in this movie. They definatley are talented actors there is no denying that.

Jackie also gives a solid dramatic performance in "New Police Story".
shareSeconded! He is actually a good actor in NPS, not just good for a Jackie Chan film. And Crime Story - he's good in that too. Jackie proves himself as an actor little by little. And when he's not acting in English, which, to be fair, makes the whole task a lot harder. I can see why people who've only seen his English language films low-rate him so much - he's not a good actor in English. But in Cantonese, he's decent.

This film and "Crime Story" are two of my favorites of all time. But I think we may have yet to see more great dramatic roles. "Shinjuku Incident" is promising.
No way is this is his best performance in any movie. The film is an absolute embarrasment. The actors just hammed up the tear-jerking scenes so badly and it all ends with a fight scene that's so over-the-top and violent I couldn't believe what was happening. Yes, I appreciate the effort that Chan and Hung went through but this has got to be one of the worst JC films I've ever seen.

I agree that Jackie gave a very good performance in this film. Not his best, though. I think his best dramatic performance came in New Police Story or The Karate Kid.
