Please somebody, rerelease it on CD

GeniXo

Yeah, the score is great, I wanna get LINK from the net, do you know some place to download it?

Intrada reissued the Varese Sarabande lp on cd as a limited edition of 2000 copies and it sold out in one day. I for one just paid for mine on Ebay and paied more than it sold for from Intrada.

I agree, it was an excellent soundtrack, though it was very similar to Jerry Goldsmith's Gremlin score from around the same time (Not to criticise the guy for recycling his own work, the score is also a favourite of mine). I guess both were fitting for movies involving small creatures creating havoc.

I agree it's a great score indeed i got the expanded version

Would anyone be able to put the full score for LINK's theme up for download? I can't find the CD soundtrack, and I only have a taped VHS recording of the acutal film , as there isn't any Aussie DVDs or VHSs available!

Also:

Exactly what happens in the full version of the film? I have only seen the edited version, that HAS the scene with Imp chasing the cat on the roof.

Link was on dvd from Anchor Bay. I own the soundtrack on lp and own a cdr copy of the cd soundtrack but one track has a pause in it, I wish I can get it recopied again. I think Varese should put out a deluxe edition to it. I was so upset that I didn't know that they released a deluxe edition to Runaway and now that cd is sold out! I own that own on lp and own a digital copy of the original release cd on mini disc and cdr.

I have long gotten the deluxe edition cd soundtrack to Runaway on Ebay. Now time to wait till Link is rereleased!

Tell me about it!

I miss that score so much. I was stupid (and broke) enough to sale it 10 years ago... :(

My brother and I rented this a few times in the 80's as teenagers and have fond memories of it, and I recently thought of it so bought the DVD. The first thing I was struck with even during the opening credits was how similar it was to Goldsmith's work on Gremlins. So I hopped on here to see if anyone had mentioned it previously, and lo and behold, 7 years earlier...

I obtained it a short while ago. Listening to it, one doesn't get the impression that Goldsmith found the film particularly scary. In fact, it sounds like organ grinder music from hell...and I mean that in the nicest way.

I finally had gotten a new sealed copy of Runaway: Deluxe Edition on Ebay for about $60. The new releases of the cd club aren't here until March 13th. I wonder if Link will be one of them?

thanks for this.just discovered link and this scores fantastic.

I agree, the score is excellent - it is similar to the score Goldsmith made for Gremlins, but darker, more sinister, with a creepy carny feel to it.

I've popped the DVD in many times just to listen to the theme.

For years now, I thought I was the only one who went ape for this score!

:D it is an awesome score, isn't it?

Another superb score by Jerry Goldsmith, and the best use of the Kinks' "Apeman" ever!

Excellent! Thanks, Stuey. Only 2,000 copies are being issued.

It was dreadful and another reason why this film was such a flop. Totally inappropriate for a "horror movie" (and I use the term loosely): 80's synth mixed in with disco passages? Good grief!🐭
