Ouch, was Eisenhower really such a douche to Patton?

The movie didn't show him being an outright douche, just sort of passively aggressive, but come on, stripping General Patton of the 3rd Army and demoting him to basically a file clerk - not exactly how you'd treat a war hero, let alone a friend. Apparently Eisenhower didn't visit Patton in prison nor attend his funeral. Any historians out there? What was the scoop?
