The planet Alpha

So, we all figure the whole Kin-dza-dza social system was a parody of Soviet society, so exaggerated even the most obedient Soviet citizens themselves would think it was strange. But what in the world was Alpha supposed to represent?

I can only guess it's an allegory for certain utopian Marxist or post-Marxist thinkers who wanted to create a society completely free from violence and war, by eliminating all human needs and desires like food, sex, physical contact etc.... What's your interpretation?
