Call me stupid but...

When they were having the conversations over the computer, could she actually hear his voice? Or was it all in her head because she had heard it from the answering machine. Or maybe I just missed something... But this has been bugging me.

reply

no she couldn't hear him, like u said it was because she heard his voice b4 and she was just imagining it.

An 80's movies is for life, not just for sleepovers

reply

ok ... you're stupid

reply

i swear at first we dnt hear his voice. its a bit of a moot point whether she belives she can from the beginning, but the fact that we pick this up part waz through (i think), adds to the feeling that we are following the journez with her.so there

The woman saved his life. She could have just turned off her computer and walked away. It's just one of those times where people instantly bond and share a connection and while if my memory is correct at the end of the movie after he introduces himself they dont even kiss or anything she just says "this is jack" with a big ass gleaming smile on her face. So the dont really say that they fall in love.

I am sure there was something romantic between the two. The director did not completely spell it out because he knows the audience, while wanting them together, would not want to see Whoopti kissing anyone.

reply

When the person could hear him on the computer then I think she could as well. Because there was the part where he pisses her off and she is not looking at the computer and he says "Terry" she replies with "What?"

Triplebreastedwhore: " ps love the film. tho i'm not too sure i believe that either one of them would be attracted to the other"

Well, he's ENGLISH, of COURSE he would be attracted to Terri.

I mean,... right?

*significant Pause*

'cause, at first, you know.. He thought Terri was a man...

*Ducks*

reply

This was kind of mean..lol

reply

your right amoammo, you don't hear Jacks voice, until she goes to his apartment and listens to his answering machine, then she starts to imagine it.

It would be a boring first half of the movie if Terri was the only one with dialog and everyone in the audience had to read what was on the screen. It just makes more sense to give Jack a voice straight away. I didn't think the voice of Jack matched the look of Jack though.

reply

Isn't that funny, though, because I'm quite sure that is Jonathan Pryce's actual voice...

reply

Before she hears the answer phone message Terri reads out all of Jack's messages from the computer screen. After the answer phone message you hear the very lovely Jonathan's own voice reading out his messages.

It is a fantastic film with a wonderful cast.

reply

Wonderful cast indeed!

John Wood is in it! *squeeees happily*

reply

I think it was just to show the transition between cyber-world and the real world.

reply

I think it was to personify Jack, so we wouldn't think he's just a "computer".

reply

She doesn't hear him, although it is inconsistent, when she responds to it when she's not even looking at the monitor, and at the end when he cautions her about breaking her glasses

reply

I thought I remember her hooking up a speaker to the pc to hear his replies

This is Miami Pal, but lately its starting to look a lot like Disney Land!
