not really but anyway.I recently bought Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources but the JdF DVD is only 116 minutes when I have seen in a couple of film review books a running time of 122 minutes.the manon des sources dvd also appears to be shortened.Are the shorter films the standard versions that would be sold everywhere and shown on TV or have i just bought the mickey mouse versions

My version is only 117 minutes long, too. My mother told me that Jean's donkey dies towards the end but there was no such scene in my version so I have a feeling that they cut a few scenes/parts of scenes out, which is a shame really just for the sake of 5 minutes.

Something to do with NTSC/PAL transfer - most films on region 2 are about 5 minutes less than they are listed on IMDB, books etc.
