Postcards from the Edge

I didn't see this movie, but I guess this is the movie Carrie Fisher was in after going to rehab. In Postcards 'Suzanne' was filming a movie in a cop uniform after her stint in rehab.

I wonder what the other movie was...the one she was high during. Gene Hackman was the director in Postcards...who was he playing?

I thought you said 'I'm all right Spider'

yes

Supposedly Carrie was flying at 30,000 feet when making Under The Rainbow with Chevy Chase (and the munchkins) in 1981.

I wouldn't take Postcards totally literally in terms of characters. Hackman, Quaid, Dreyfus, etc., may all have been composites of many people she knew.

Hackman was "playing" Richard Donner, he has stated so in interviews.

R.I.P. Carrie Fisher.
2016 was extra brutal in taking so many stars, favorites, celebrities, and well known personalities from so many walks of life, unfortunately taking both Carrie Fisher and then her mother within a day of each other.

That said, it almost seems to be a better question to ask would be:
What movies was she not high and/or drunk, and/or dealing with her bipolar disease medications?
Medication for bipolar is known to take "a while" to reach the proper levels of the appropriate medications, with frequent adjustments and side effects during the process. just sayin'

One of Fisher's tributes showed Carrie and Harrison Ford in their STAR WARS outfits, with "I love you." said by one of the characters (seems to me that would have been RETURN OF THE JEDI (VI)), and stated that both actors were still drunk (from the previous night/day?) while filming that scene, as confirmed by at least Carrie.

I have also seen UNDER THE RAINBOW, mentioned in a preceding comment, and there were extended periods in that movie where she was running all over the hotel in lingerie, (a bit more covered than a two-piece swimsuit, namely a silk bra and panties, stockings, and shoes). That was pretty much gratuitous, since she was famous enough by then to not 'need' to do that for the little comic value it added to the movie.
(Back story: UTR was made about the filming of THE WIZARD OF OZ, and the hotel was filled with 'little people' who played the munchkins in "OZ". She and Chevy Chase's characters were more or less responsible for that group, and the group seemed to most interested in wild partying, leading to the chaos, which was supposedly pretty true to life...)

Reports have confirmed that Carrie had completed filming her parts in the next installment of the STAR WARS saga, (IMDB currently lists it in post-production) so there is some small comfort that there is one more movie still in the pipeline, with Carrie Fisher.
She will be missed.
