How are the subtitles on the DVD?

Believe it or not I actually have this movie on VHS with English subtitles, but there are parts of the movie where they're speaking all different languages that aren't subtitled. This movie is confusing enough without not being able to understand all of the words!

How about alternate audio in English or Spanish? And are there subtitles in Spanish or other languages?

Appreciating any insight, I'm trying to decide whether or not this movie would be easier to watch with my wife (a native Spanish speaker) on DVD.

Thanks buckets
Joe

the dvd I have has subtitles in english, spanish, and french, but there are a few parts of the film at the beginning where there are no subtitles...which I think is a conscious directorial choice to show that the four characters are spread about.

I'll go ahead and reply for no reason as well :). I really liked this movie and not just because the lead female character is hot. I thought it was a well-done teenage drama that made you feel what it was like to live under that kind of government, and then having them spread all over the world was a coup. (That wasn't a spoiler by the way - it happens in the first 20 minutes of the movie).
