Be advised if purchasing this Shriek Show / Media Blasters release that the DVD release of "Hell High" is defective. Approximately four minutes of the running time are missing from the DVD due to an authoring error. Sadly, the DVD was never recalled despite complaints and the company initially reported that they were working on a solution which never came.

I've noticed this too! There is a portion of the film that just jumps and cuts out an entire scene! Why hasn't this been fixed?

shareI thought it was my personal attention span problem, or a problem with my DVD player or my particular DVD. I never imagined that little bit was missing from all the DVDs! I rewound the part where Jon-Jon goes to get the quarterback's jacket several times and figured they just decided to show him returning so we were to assume he had obtained the jacket "off-screen". I feel a little better about it now.
shareckystp did your total DVD runtime comeout to 84 minutes and show the scene where jon-jon gets his jacket?
shareMy DVD is perfect. The scene where Jon-Jon gets the quarterback's jacket is there, as are all of the film's scenes. Maybe they reissued the DVD or something. You may want to try and get a newer copy.

Argh, I just traded for the High School Horror Shriek show box set & sure enough...the error is present on the Hell High DVD...at exactly 58:18, cuts from teacher layed out on the lawn to guy eating a hot dog...
Besides mention of a "jacket" being retreived...is there anything else essential in these missing 4 mins? Shriek Show really dropped the ball!!! I doubt it'll get a formal "replacement program" since its SUCH a small, lesser known title. :o(

I just watched the whole thing from beginning to end...maybe someone can explain to me why those bikers were following him? Its the only scene that threw me off.
Also I found this ph# for Shriek Show: 212-868-0991 ex. 237..plan to call them today when I get a moment to see if they are replaceing the discs! I will try to report back of what they tell me.

Sorry to dissappoint you blindalleycruiser, but after watching the WHOLE Shriek Show High School Horrors box set, I felt I needed to quickly RID myself of these terrible movies ASAP! I ended up trading it away last week.
I honestly don't think those 4 missing minutes were going to make me change my mind on Hell High...frighteningly enough, Hell High was probably the BEST movie in the box set...which isn't saying much!

That said, I bought this set nearly two years ago and still haven't bothered watching the other two discs.Believe me, you ain't missing much...I think the absolute WORST was Hitcher in the Dark..it has NONE of the charm some of Umberto Lenzi's earlier, cheesier outings had (Ex. Nightmare City, Cannibal Ferox, Eaten Alive!) and came off as a wannabe-Lifetime Network movie...AWFUL!
Mine seemed to pause at one part but it didn't look like I missed anything. People keep talking about the jacket scene but I saw the part where Jon Jon steals the quarterback's jacket and then speeds off and they chase him on the motorcycle. Does anyone have this on VHS so they can confir?
