Thelma Rice?

this is so weird. In the movie Silkwood, which was also written by Nora Ephron, also directed by Mike Nichols, and also had Meryl Streep in the leading role, there is a character called Thelma Rice. what is also weird is that the character in this movie, her real name was not Thelma. They used a fake name. i believe that maybe this was Nichols and Ephron's secret pseudo name to protect the identity of their characters. Heartburn was based on a novel that was partially based on Ephron's own personal story of her and her husband and his affair with the infamous and tall "thelma rice." weird.

Really?

Ok, had to google for Margaret Jay. And found two photos of her with Carl Bernstein at the Kennedy Center Honors, Dec 7, 1980. Incidentally, Maureen Stapleton was there too (she's the next photo in the sequence).

What in the world was the attraction to him? I mean, if he looked like Dustin Hoffman, maybe...but yick...
