Missing Fantasy Scenes

I remember reading the original shooting script and there were some hilarious fantasy sequences included. Apparently these were shot but almost all were cut from the final version of the film. In one episode, Rachel is outfitted like Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" and she hurls a bucket of water on the "hopelessly tall" Thelma Rice (Mark's mistress) who proceeds to melt like the Wicked Witch of the West. In the original cut of the film, Olympia Dukakis appeared as Rachel's mother (the character is mentioned but not seen in the release print of the film). As it stands, the only fantasy that remains in "Heartburn" features a distraught Rachel turning on "Masterpiece Theatre" and having her own unhappy predicament described by host Alistair Cook on the air. When the movie was released in 1986, Meryl mentioned some of the excised sequences and wondered aloud what Paramount did with the missing footage...? Good question!
