After The Shining Jack made about 5 good films

This was not one of them. His work of art in film was strictly the 70's. He looked and that was his decade. When 1981 the era and air shifted and so did Jack movies. Most of them are just silly bad and don't have the depth from Easy Rider to The Shining. Ironweed was excellent and couple of those later films. The 80's and 90's I don't know they were ok. And I saw them all.

Hey Mike. Cool you re-watched this one. I agree. It's a good film. Coulda been better without the *beep* Carly Simon "score."

Re: your thinking Jack only made 5 good films after The Shining... Sure, obviously he made most of his best films in the 70s. But aren't you overstating your case a bit? Only 5 good films after The Shining? That's some pretty high standards you got there. Here's what I think:

Reds
Terms of Endearment
Broadcast News
Ironweed
Batman
The Crossing Guard
As Good As It Gets
About Schmidt

These 8 films (which include two truly great films; one a masterpiece) are all, in my opinion, well above "good."

And these 6 films...:

The Postman Always Rings Twice
Heartburn
A Few Good Men
The Pledge
Something's Gotta Give
The Departed

...are at least "good." A few of these, I think are very good (w/ The Departed being overrated, but still a good film).

So, for me, that's fourteen instead of your five. And there about 6-7 others from Jack I simply haven't seen that may be good. So maybe my number should be higher. I don't know.

Anyway... At least he tried goddammit. At least he did that 

Who cares, everyone has a few bad eggs every now and again. I still thought it was good enough. And Jack did look so very handsome still considering he was nearly 50!
