He is the one that was shot and had his cigar stolen by Clint.

My Dad was also in this film...sort of. Documentary footage of soldiers amidst their daily routines is shown during the opening credits. My Dad is one of those soldiers, no doubt about it. I noticed this a few years ago and could hardly believe my eyes. He says that cameras were around constantly in Korea and was rather pleased to see it.

Hi, Everyone,

I worked in the scene at the diner where Mario Van Peebles steals money from Clint and has the bus driver leave without Clint Eastwood. That scene is near the beginning of the movie. I am barely visible as Mario gets on the bus. I am the passenger in the seat right near the front door.

My yellow Rambler station wagon (1969) is parked in front of the diner (Halfway House). The Rambler worked a lot in Hill Street Blues and did a nice scene in Knight Rider.

I was a movie extra in Hollywood from 1980 until recently. Most of the movies and TV shows I worked in were in the 1980s.

Clint Eastwood was nice to work with. So was Mario Van Peebles.

Sorry I missed being in the movie, but I was in the Grenada Invasion, too bad most of what happened involved the rangers and 82nd airborne.

what does not kill you makes you stronger

reply

I was in Grenada recently, on a writing assignment, and asked my guide about this film. His lip curled in disgust as he gave me chapter and verse on all the misrepresentations.

Based on that and what you wrote, fyrefighter, I'll enjoy this film with a grain of salt.

I read on the IMDB trivia section that the Army wanted nothing to do with the film which is why it's the USMC. It also said the USMC disowned it as well after seeing a preview. If you were really a Ranger, could you shed some light on why the Army and USMC backed away? Were there too many inaccuracies, was it too "fluff", etc.

reply

My dad was also in this movie! He appeared as a USMC extra.
