Aggie A Total Wack Job

Gunny's ex wife, Aggie, has to be the biggest hot mess I have seen in a movie since Prof. Kingsfield's daughter in "The Paper Chase". One moment she is about to fall in love with Gunny again, the next moment she is throwing stuff at him. She seems to go from mild-tempered to wildly angry in an instant, for no apparent reason.

Marsha Mason was a very attractive middle aged woman, but this character was utterly spaced out.

Aggie was not a good military wife, for sure. Instead of supporting his absences and deployments, she made him feel bad for it, blamed him, and punished him. Like he had a choice but to go? And back then the support system for military spouses was so much better than it is now. But of course military life itself is now so dysfunctional

reply

well he did have a choice to stay in the military but i agree with you that she should not have made him feel sorry for having to go to war

You must be under 40! When women get to their mid-40's to mid-50's they can be an insane and evil witchy-poo one day and a sweetheart the next. Its called menopause and its like a decade of PMS.

Beware.

reply

That's not exclusive to menopause... Lol!

reply

quite!

reply

She reminded me of my ex-girlfriend actually....could sympathize with Gunny during those scenes, lol

reply

On the one hand I do think she could be more supportive. On the other hand I can understand her wanting to be selfish and not wanting him to end up dead or severely wounded and disabled. The worrying all the time would be nerveracking.

... Aggie, has to be the biggest hot mess I have seen ...
Well she pretty much says that to Highway during the movie, admitting that she didn't cope as a military wife. Now that Highway wants her back she's still unsure whether she can cope, unless he retires to that avocado farm. They were both pretty honest with one another.🐭
