While I refer to it as a guilty pleasure (because it was a huge bomb), I think it is a very good, funny, old fashioned movie. It might not be up there with Gene's Mel Brooks comedies, but it is a touching reminder of what films in the 1930's and 40's were like, being a spoof of several Bob Hope and Red Skeleton comedies. Critics gave Dom De Luise the razzy, but having seen this in the theater when it came out (and rather naive), I thought he was a shoe-in at the time for an Oscar Nomination. Little did I know. It's time to add this to my collection. I think now I'll start a Gene Wilder section. He was the funny man of the 70's and I'm glad he's getting the send-off of love he deserves.
