More to the beginning of movie ???

They recently re-showed this in one showing but in my recording, it started right up with her being delivered to the Sultan on a litter with the title of the movie & the actor credits. Was there more to the movie BEFORE the credits ??? They jumped right into the middle of the storyline & were referring to things that happened but never actually showed, but those plot point seemed important enough to have actually SHOWN them (i.e. her going to Turkey with her father, being kidnapped, that guy selling her into the harem, that same guy being hired by her father to "rescue" her). And I never even saw her father, he was just "died" when she finally got out towards the end of the movie.....
It's like I only got to see Part 2 or something, is that what happened ???
It was a cute fluffy movie otherwise, I wonder how historically accurate it was....

It was made for TV in 1986 and was a 2 Part series you caught in right as the second part started. Im actually watching it on Encore right now Sept.29th 2:39 pm Central. Look around and u should be able to catch it again ??
