Re-release

This is one movie that desperately needs a new DVD and blu-ray. The picture on the current DVD is so dark and faded that it's obviously a VHS transfer. And what about adding that creepy trailer from The Gate VHS?

Just finished watching it, and yeah...the quality is pretty bad. Artisan did the same thing a few years ago with Ironweed -- just recycled an old vhs 1.33:1 transfer.

Luckily Olive films rescued that film, so maybe they'll get their hands on Gothic. It's great visually, so seeing it look muddy with drab colors was a real letdown. dvdbeaver.com offers screen captures between the Artisan and the MGM Region 2 release. What a difference.
