Like the characters in the film, it seems like you should be under the influence to really enjoy the movie.

The Holy Mountain. Though you can still enjoy it while NOT under the influence, there are many times it seems like the movie was made specifically to be watched in an altered state.

and for the record, the scene with Mary running around the house in a nightmarish state is pretty accurate to what taking opium is like :)

I discovered this movie in a dollar bin at a drug store about 5 or 6 years ago... it is one of my absolute all time favorite movies. I recently watched it high for the first time and it was mind blowing.
