Why didn't Charlotte Lewis have a bigger career after The Golden Child?

I mean, most of her filmography after that comprises of low-budget, B-movies. And the last major thing that I heard about or from her was her accusing Roman Polanski of sexually assaulting her when she was about 16 years old. I also know that she made a guest starring spot on Seinfeld, which was perhaps the highest profile acting gig that she had outside of The Golden Child.

I wonder if Charlotte was perceived as being "too exotic" looking to cast as a lead in mainstream projects. Charlotte Lewis is I believe (without looking it up) of Chilean, Iraqi, and Irish (from her mother's side of the family) descent. Yet in The Golden Child, we're suppose to assume that she's playing a Tibetan high priestess with a British accent.

"Too exotic"? Could be. I find her absolutely stunning in this film and will sometimes watch just to see her.
