Did they run out of money at the end?

It seemed like as soon as Eddie Murphy goes to rescue the child all seemed extremely rushed , there is no dialogue , it just ends. It's like the cut out a bunch of stuff because they couldn't afford to finish the stop motion effects.

I just watched it this morning and I agree. I love the movie but the "saving the Golden Child" part of the movie was like "let's get it all in one take"

And the CGI demon looked terrible in most shots.

CGI-demon....?
This was made in 1986, there were no CGI-monsters or other things computer generated in this movie.
That's a stop motion puppet, yes a rather awful one at that, but stop motion nonetheless.
Just like the morphing and dancing can of Pepsi.
Stop motion.

CGI.... My word.
