Greatest kung fu ensemble ever?

The number of stars is astounding...

Hwang Jang Lee
Sammo Hung
Yuen Wah
Cynthia Rothrock
Yasuaki Kurata
Yuen Biao
Hou Hsiao
Phillip Ko
Bolo Yeung
Lam Ching Ying
Yukari Oshima
Wu Ma

And many others. There are even pretty great cameos for both Wang Yu and Shih Kien.

I don't know any other film as big.

Yeah. Yasuaki Kurata and Hwang Jang-Lee was so underused. They should i`ve more screen time and fights.

Exactly. I was watching a clip on youtube and realized how many big names from the martial arts movie business there were.....It almost looked like some kind of big gathering where they than face-off each other individually. Man, i'd love to see that happen. It makes you wonder why they don't do these kind of projects anymore, and why it took a decade for there to be a Jackie Chan and Jet Li project.....Where is everybody? Is the friggin martial arts genre dead?

I may have some kind of brain damage, but I am pretty damn sure I see Wang Lung Wei also in the big end fight, and Fan-Mei Sheng also seemed to appear during it.

Have to agree that this list is downright magnificent, it's small wonder there hasn't been anything similar. Maybe except Just Heroes, but it isn't exactly a martial arts movie, but featured pretty impressive cast from old Shaw roster: Chen Kuan Tai, David Chiang, Fong Hark On, Ku Feng, Danny Lee, Lo Lieh, Ti Lung, Tang Chia, and many others.

Yeah, this is probably the greatest collection of kung fu stars ever assembled in a single movie. There are a ton of people who have either been the main star or main villain in many classic kung fu flicks of the 70s and 80s. It was probably too much of a good thing since many great stars didn't get a chance to show off their skills like they normally would.

I would have liked to have seen Yuen Biao, Chin Siu Ho, Chin Kar Lok, Hisao Hou, and Yuen Wah have a showdown to see who's most acrobatic. And a Hwang Jang Lee-Dick Wei throwdown would have been nice too.

I have Just Heroes on laserdisc, and I never realized how many great kung fu people were in it. I mean, I guess I did notice a number of them, but I never thought about just how many. That is indeed pretty impressive. Probably that many were in the film due to Woo's connections in Shaw Bros.

I thought Bolo Yeung was going to be a key player in the film and I was hoping Lam Ching-Ying would fight.

Great cast and I haven’t laughed this hard while watching a movie in a long time.
