so Jason is at the bottom of the lake, there's been a huge slaughter just taken place.
Did Tommy skip town before the cops came to the scene?(I mean the next batch of EMTs) I ask because with such a killing spree, you'd think they'd want to retrieve his body from the lake.
How would Tommy explain this in such a way that they don't get Jason's body but don't think there's a killer on the loose?
Wouldn't one of the kids from the camp mention Jason last being seen fighting Tommy in the canoe?

Kids say the darndest things.

The authorities simply could not find Jason's corpse.

Or could not be bothered searching.

Or Tommy has the gift of the gab.

Or, yes, Tommy skipped town (with Megan in tow)

Or the cops didn't have the resources to search.

Jason wasn't even that deep in the lake, the blade from the little boat Tommy was in cut Jason's throat and Jason was standing at the time, so the cops would have to be the most inept police force to not find his body.
after 18 people were massacred they should have no problem getting resources to search.
So I think Tommy must have split town, he probably didn't want to tell the cops where Jason was because he believed holding the body there would end the killing.
