Why are the kids at camp in the winter?

It's clearly not summer in this movie. Every character is walking around wearing jackets, Cort and his woman don't wanna go outside to plug the RV cord back in because it's too cold, you see Sissy and Paula sitting by a fire keeping warm, Paula acts like she's shivering when she leave the girls' cabin, etc.

What sort of camp operates in the winter and what schools do these kids go to that aren't in session at this time? Sort of odd.

Winter camp?

When the couple driving the car get killed it is really muddy and raining. I thought it was Spring/Summer. It seems like a couple of the other Fridays might have had a fireplace. They probably filmed in Fall/Winter.

It could be that the weather that summer was colder than usual. Crystal Lake is located in the Northeast, I assume, so swings in weather and temperatures are not uncommon.

In New England and the northwest, it is common for temperatures to drop to the forties and even thirties during the night in the middle of summer. Also, we often see characters frantically running about when they must be ready for bed. Being exhausted and scared are going to make people cold.

Camp Crystal Lake is in Jersey. I'm from Jersey. In the middle of the night in the summer it can get cold, especially if the day was warm. That huge temperature shift can make your body react as if it's frigid outside. I've seen it where it can be 85 degrees during the day and 45 at night, especially in the late summer (I.E. August).

Knock it off, Hudson.

It was filmed in Georgia so it had to be during the fall/winter seasons. It's usually hot and humid during Spring and Summer.

All the tress were bare at the camp, too. This obviously indicates not spring/summer
