Do you consider this the essential part five?

Not only is Friday the 13th Part V A New Beginning a lousy movie, but it does not even fit in to the series. The story is radically different and has no substance. The disappearance of Jason and his being pushed aside by an impostor are ridiculous and defeat the purpose of the movies. Part six serves as a sensible continuation of part four, and brings the brutally mocked storyline back to life.

I disagree. Part V is about relevant to the series as the original 1980 albeit with a father figure than a mother. Jason Goes To Hell is the only one in the series I can't adapt to - it's only redeeming qualities are the opening and then the Freddy glove at the end. You're more than entitled to your opinion of course - that's what makes these discussion boards so much fun, especially the horror boards!

I agree, Part VI does indeed serve as a sensible continuation from The Final Chapter.

-Jason's body wasnt cremated like the Mayor in claimed in Part V.

-Tommy becomes the "new" Jason at the end of Part V.

Both of these are ignored in Part VI and the movie starts off as a re-do of Part V only that this time Tommy is digging up Jason's grave and its not a dream.

I agree. Part V was completely pointless except for providing lots of unintentional comedy.
