One of the best endings ever

Or at least a personal favorite. Brundlefly, fused with the telepod crawls pathetically over to Ronnie, who's sobbing. He gently lifts the shotgun to his head, and she becomes hysterical, saying she can't do it. Then BLAM! Shoots him in the head. So emotional.

Absolutely wonderful.

Agreed. Very underrated.

What got me is how immediately after that shot it fades to black, and then the credits roll. It just ends exactly at that moment. The emotional climax of the entire movie. BLAM. Brundlefly's head explodes. She falls to the floor, weeping. Fade to black, roll the credits. That's powerful stuff.

I love that this film had the strength and conviction to conclude on a heart-breaking tragic note.

I think the producers or someone wanted some pop love song to play during the ending credits. Imagine how weird and inappropriate that would've been.

I thought the country song in The Fly II was out of place but it could've been much worse if the producers got their way in the first movie.

Poor Brundlefly! One of the most tragic deaths ever. His horrible fate still haunts me after all these years. Damn you, Cronenberg!

reply

Yeah a fantastic ending. Howard Shore's score goes some way to helping it too. Brilliant music.
