Joey Cramer - What would Max have thought...

Probably old news to some, but it's almost like his David character's travel through time set him on an alternative path to self destruction, or perhaps it is the common child star outcome:

2008 - gun problems and drug trafficking
2010 - public drinking offence
2011 - threatening behaviour with a weapon
2012 - cashing forged bank cheques
2016 - bank robbery and drug use

Sheesh...

Hello MikeCable,
indeed he's not the only former child actor whose life "went downhill"... I knew before that he had problems but I was really shocked when I read the news about his last offence (the lamentable incident at Sechelt, 2016); nevertheless he was "lucky" in so far as he received a very "mild" sentence: 2 years less one day; participation in an anti-drug program, some years of probation. AND it was good luck for him that he committed the crime on the Canadian side of the border! In the U.S. I'm sure he would have received a MUCH longer term.
In late August of this year I think he will have completed his sentence, and I really PRAY that this was the last time he got in trouble! (But I guess it's important that he never gets in contact to some "false friends" who had negative influence upon him. Otherwise he'll get in trouble soon again.)
I LOVED his performance in "Flight of the Navigator"! :-) And I do not and will not believe that he's a thoroughly mean person. Just had to do with too many bad people, over the years.
Kind regards

Plus he soiled himself in the bank that one time and then denied it

To be fair, haven't we all had one of those days?

Perhaps some former child actors end up like this because they spent their money quickly that they earned as children and also tend not to have pursued higher education resulting in a stable career. They are broke adults and desperate. Poor guy.

reply

Most child stars are destined to become problem adults regardless.

Being in a couple of hit films doesn't change fundamentally who a person is. It's like saying being a Catholic priest makes people pedos...they were like that before they were priests.

Good point, KC. Also, it's possible that being famous meant that some didn't have the ability to develop responsibility and independence for themselves at the most impressionable years of someone growing up. At some stage their life may change and the support they got used to isn't there, and look what happens...
