Under rated movie?

I don't think a lot of people have even heard of this film, but when I was a kid, I would say it was definately in my top 10 at least!
It was incredibly emotional for a kids film, and actually another good point is it is a good futuristic film, although now I come to think of it I guess they ripped off Back to the future a bit but even so, its still a great film, isn't it?

It's a great film that me and my sister constantly watched when we were youngsters. I think it's well known and looked on fondly and with nostalgia with those that grew up in the '80s and '90s. I would perhaps say that it's maybe not as generally well known with the youth of today as maybe other '80s films like 'Back to the Future' and 'E.T.'

I've loved this film since I was a kid and agree it's very underrated.

Rewarched it and wow still makes me cry like a little girl, the scene where he meets his brother
and he's 16 or whatever so I thought the film was amazing very powerful.

Out of ten id probably give it an 8.5 or an 8

Yes its a bit Under rated just really glad I have the FOTN Blu Ray now.
Glad it made it as its so much better than on DVD and VHS.
It never used to be on TV for ages to until last year when it came on Syfy HD.
I think you may have to import the blu Ray from the UK though if you want it.

I like the scene where Max yells at the teenagers in the car.

"THANKS FOR NOTHING!"

Alan Silvestri composed a music cue called Star Dancing. It sounded silly and a little too avante-garde. Instead, we hear Main Title and Robot Romp cut and pasted together.

My initial reaction when I saw the heading of your post "Under rated movie?" was one of bemusement because I knew this to be a very highly rated movie by critics and loved by millions of people. But then I gazed up to the top of the screen and saw an IMDB rating of 6.9/10, and all I could say was WHAT THE FUCK ? I couldn't believe it. Apparently it is massively underrated after all (by IMDB VOTERS Anyway).

Over the years it has come to be underrated, even though it wasn't among those who were actually there.

By the time this was released, I was in my teens and was never drawn to see it because Disney had a reputation for making movies for the under 10 set. I wish I had been more open-minded. A recent viewing on Disney+, over a third of a century after its initial release, 'surprised me quite a bit and I realized it's much better than I would have expected. It's been compared to Explorers which came out a year before, but it's better executed than that film and doesn't melt before your very eyes in its latter third like Explorers does (despite Explorer's fantastic cast of young actors) . Some people make potshots at Paul Reubens for being the Voice of the Robot in this film, but he does a fine job and there's not so so much of him that he becomes irritating. The robot is meant to have the consciousness of a 12 year old boy so he makes insults and jokes appropriate for that age demographic. And it's always a thrill to see my beloved Veronica Cartwright in any role. Little Joey Cramer does a fine job as the Henry Thomasesque lead and his British Columbia accent is so wonderfully adorable. I just love it and I'm watching it now for the third time in a month.

It's got solid reviews almost everywhere, so I'm not sure if it's underrated. A lot of people don't talk about it, I agree, but those that do like it.
