Atfirst I thought the shipp was down there but Max didn't take him til probably the minute after we see David land in the ravine.

I'm guessing it was full of things you would expect to find in a ravine. You should consult someone that specialises, I only do crevices.

Nothing but a kid lying unconscious in it which was easier for max to take than a person awake and concious who would likely fight Max like crazy not to be taken into the ship.

You mean what was the dog barking at? Probably a critter.

Dogs that have bad owners/handlers/pack leaders, bark at anything and everything very easily. It's not necessarily anything signifigant - heck, many dogs bark out of frustration and/or because the owner never disagreed with that behaviour, etc. etc.

There would be about 8 zillion reasons for that dog (we can see what bad owners and handlers they all are to this dog) to bark in that situation, and none of them would necessitate anything too cosmic.

If you disagree, just watch a couple of seasons of 'Dog Whisperer' or 'Cesar 911' and think again.
