FIREWALKER 2

AFTER THIS CAME OUT AND DID BETTER THAN EXPECTED AT THE BOX OFFICE,THEY SAID IT WAS A GO FOR A SEQUEL,BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED WITH CANNON ON THIS?

reply

I believe Cannon went out of business.

I know Cannon released Chuck's 1990 movie, "The Hitman," so they were in business for a while after "Firewalker."

reply

THAT WAS BECAUSE WARNER BROS. TOOK OVER CANNON IN THE EARLY 90'S.

Damn, I've always thought a sequel would be awesome. They could've made this into a franchise, really. Will never happen, now, but it's nice to dream =)

Cannon went bankrupt around '89, "The Delta Force" and "Masters of Universe" budgets were huge and the Box Office for both were poor, also Cannon started to produce some A-List movies who were more expensive than the usual B-Movies action flicks such as "Barfly" or "A Cry in the Dark". They even tried to do low-budget movies to capitalize on quick box-office cash such as Van Damme's "Cyborg", but that wasn't enough. Curious thing it's that Carolco, another big company from the 80's (from Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna) also went bankrupt around the same time... and Carolco was like the Cannon Group for the A-List Action Movies ("Rambo - First Blood - part 2" or "Red Heat").

Actually The Delta Force did really well at the box office. It even got great reviews, and was one of the few movies Chuck did that when it went to over the air regular basic televison stations,NBC picked it up for their Sunday Night At The Movies.Chuck only had 3 other movies that did that and they were Code Of Silence,Lone Wolf McQuade and Missing In Action. All his other films when they went to regular tv,went to your local channels.Someone told me Firewalker went to NBC,but I don't recall that at all, maybe someone could confirm that up here.
