i have this vhs and on the cover it says based on true story
it just seems farfetched to be true
i liked this movie though

Yes, it was based on a true story. You can find the true story in an article wrote in 1978 by sharon boorstyn to the July New West Magazine edition. Sometimes they sell this edition in the ebay auctions. I never bought the magazine but i have a copy of this article.

shareI remember going to the library and reading the article. If I remember correctly, the only part of the movie that is true is the facts of Joe being in trouble and Lisa being the girl that he fell in love with. I remember reading about how they ran off together but Fire with Fire is based very losely off the real story.
