The End???

Maybe it's because I'm a 24-year-old guy and don't exactly match the target audience, but am I the only one who doesn't get the ending of this one? *scratch head*

In my opinion the whole movie was pretty decent until they ran away. I mean, what the heck was so genius about their plan in the first place? Not only had they no idea if the cabin was still there, but did they really thought, they could live there forever? Without ever being caught? And where did the eggs and bacon suddenly came from? And had he planned from the beginning to jump off that cliff to fake their deaths? And if it wasn't for Myron (hope the name's right) dropping out because of Lisa, what would Myron and Joe have done all day in a cabin in the woods? And isn't it likely that Lisa and Joe will get attacked by wild animals or be bitten by a tick and die from lyme disease after the end credits have stopped rolling?

Sorry, I hope I don't sound harsh or anything, but I guess I was just a little taken aback by the sudden way things ended.

Of course, I nevertheless DO respect the people who enjoyed this flick, so please don't be offended or take this the wrong way. After all, movies are by all means a matter of taste and everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on this matter. Thanks. :)

You're funny. I think the ending was your classic happily ever after. No, they never would survive outside society and without being caught. A young romantic doesn't think that way though. Like most runaways they didn't think about the long term. They just think about the moment and being together! I hadn't thought about the groceries they had but I guess they could have stopped on the way up to the cabin and bought something or stole it.

Yes, I do believe he had planned for jumping off the cliff and "escaping". It was sort of a way to fake their deaths so the world would leave them alone. Cheesy I know but it is what it is. I saw it as a young teenager and thought it was the best thing ever. It never crossed my mind they would starve to death out there or die from something as simple as a broken ankle. At that age I thought love could conquer all!! What could they need besides each other?!? lol I hope you enjoyed the movie despite the unrealistic ending!!

Thanks for the nice reply. Heh, it really never crossed my mind, that they could've just stopped somewhere to buy the groceries. Makes sense though, cause even though the boarding school seemed to be pretty far from society, it's of course more than likely that there was at least some gas stop or something for the lumberjacks and general hiking folk.

And yeah, in the meantime I figured this big young romantic runaway thing for myself. Guess I was still too much in shock when I started the thread, since I had been waiting for some kind of neat solution to their dilemma. :)

Nonetheless I have indeed enjoyed it. Just need to remember to adjust my sentiments a little every now and then. Especially when it comes to 80's flicks. ;)

Hey Kevin...
you are really funny...I laugh a lot with your "review" and with some questions you made. One of the things I feel about this movie...is that I keep my sense of humour alive specially when I see the hair styles of lisa and joe... Sometimes when i surf on the web i see some people talking how much they hate this movie...believe me, i don't feel sad or anything...I just laugh, cause i know this is not a classical, not a great movie...but it just caught me since i saw it for the first time...and i know i am not alone...look how many boys and girls, come to this board to talk about it. Thank you, for the contribution...you're welcome, so your sense of humour.

Claudia.

"And isn't it likely that Lisa and Joe will get attacked by wild animals or be bitten by a tick and die from lyme disease after the end credits have stopped rolling?" <--Don't forget the zombies that could pop up! LOL I think you were thinking a tad too hard.

These two weren't in the amazon and no we don't know how they could fare. One idea could be is that Joe may actually have some wisdom in the wilderness. Those folks do exist.

I loved this movie (then again I love 80's movies) anyways you should see Reckless, that is another 80's teen romantic film about a bad boy with a good girl falling in love and yes I know this is a spoiler but in the end they run out of their town together. Happily ever after.
