This is an interesting Korean War movie to watch

I've read a few negative posts about this movie, but I don't understand why those viewers didn't like, "Field Of Honor". As far as I know, this is the only Korean War movie of its kind that depicted the small, Dutch military contribution to the United Nations effort at repulsing the North Korean invasion.

I give the government of The Netherlands big credit for participating. The Netherlands (Holland) was a totally defeated nation in 1940, under the hobnailed boots of the victorious, invading Nazis. The Dutch owed their liberation to the British 21st Army Group, which was responsible for far northern Europe and northern Germany. The American 12th Army Group took central and southern Germany. After the war the Dutch Army reconstituted, using surplus uniforms, helmets, and weapons from the British and Americans. Hence, you see the Dutch battalion in Korea dressed as Americans and using American weapons. Still, the grateful Dutch sent a reinforced battalion to join the Americans and United Nations contingents. The number of Dutch soldiers numbered approximately 3,400, which is really the size of a brigade and would be commanded by either a brigadier general or a full colonel. The Dutch were still rebuilding their country and shattered economy and still sent those soldiers to Korea.

This is a small unit drama, much in the vein of 'Saving Private Ryan', so don't expect large-scale battles. Nonetheless I found the action and human drama element very compelling. I highly recommend this movie for war movie aficionados. I purchased off Amazon.com a new VHS tape that someone had lying around in storage and wanted to sell. The tape is in mint condition and the video quality is excellent. The VHS box had been sealed in plastic wrap all this time which preserved the quality of the videotape.
