Classic? Lol ok

This must be a generation thing because I think this film is boring and ridiculous. Not to mention ferris is an annoying smug d bag.

Ferris started the bed-head look.

I watched this movie a few months ago hoping it'd be really entertaining and I found it extremely boring and stupid. I don't understand how this movie became so famous.

reply

You are obviously not old enough to remember how great the 1980's were.

reply

I loved a lot of 80s movies at the time but can't stomach some of them now. Not so with FB; it still holds up because of its great script and performances.

And it's hard to describe, but the tone of FB is perfect. Hughes really had a knack for timing, and his dialogue was fantastic. The movie is exceptionally well made, too -- how it was shot and put together is not often mentioned.

And you’re not old enough to remember how bad the 80s were; for example, this movie, John Hughs, “President” Reagan, shoulder pads for women.

reply

You see, the first time I've seen it, I loved it. But then on multiple rewatches I enjoyed it less and less strangely.

reply

It's just an opinion thing; my opinion happens to agree with OP's, this movie has always seemed like a non-event. I remember the 80's quite well, and even in the theatrical release this is one of the movies where I just don't see the appeal or the point, and I think the plot is dull and pointless. FBDO and Flashdance are two movies that are just arguments for why so-called pop culture is deranged...imo.

So yes, there very much were 80's children sitting in the theatre, wondering how this merited being committed to celluloid and how anyone could ever be entertained by it. Freaking pod people. XD

Ferris is a psychopath. But we're supposed to applaud his behaviour.
I was rooting for the principle.

I love the 80's but I'm not that fond of Ferris.

reply

Couldn't agree more. A total snore fest.

reply

Some of it is ridiculous, sure. That's a big part of its charm.

But boring? That's surprising, since so much happens over the course of the movie. And the script is downright hilarious -- some of the most quoted dialogue ever is from FB.

And not sure why you assume it's a generation thing. I'm over 50 and love it, and I know people a lot younger than me who love it, too.

Maybe it's a sense of humor thing.

reply

Great piece of sinny.

Yeah, it would be my guess. Humour is very personal.

I half agree. It was a good movie, but Ferris is a d-bag

reply

I agree. Actually, Ferris Bueller is possibly the most accurate depiction of a psychopath ever filmed -- no joke. Check out the characteristics of a psychopath, then watch this flick again. He hits every checkmark on the list.

reply

It's well overrated, didn't think it was up to much back then or now, found the character extremely annoying.

I'm running this monkey farm now Frankenstein!!!!
