Its a movie for kids, nothing else

The humor, the interactions, the dialogues, this is just for kids.
When i saw the movie i started to think how the hell this movie have 7,9 on imdb. Then its obvious, this a movie for kids, if the major of people who see this movie are kids its normal this rate.

The principal getting the his shoe on *beep* getting chased by a dog, having that mustache, is character has been used like 1000x times on movies.

I just dont get the 10* reviews here.
The movie is absolute *beep* to someone whos older than 18

Or for nostalgia freaks like me.

reply

Yeah, maybe. But who says silly kids' movies can't be good? Especially when they are well-done.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

reply

Agreed. Just because it's aimed at children doesn't make it less of a film. It simply has a different audience. A children's movie can be a masterpiece (Goonies for me) or dire (Baby's Day out).

"It's ok to play with dolls!"

It's certainly for someone who was a teen in 1986. Like me.

you had to a teenager in the 80's to totally understand why this film is so high. ....but saying that its still one of the best teen films ever made. and not a vampire in sight, and on that subject teen vamp films should of stopped after Lost Boys.

I was 13 or 14 when I first saw this movie in 1988 or 1989. I wasn't impressed with it then, and I'm not impressed with it now. The only thing I liked about it was the Ferrari (and Debra Montague was smoking hot). It seemed to be billed as a comedy, but it wasn't funny. Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987), from the same director, was funny though.

reply

Nah. It'll appeal to some kids, but it's not really made for them. For example, the museum scene would be lost on kids, as would Cameron's nervous breakdown, and even the wry depictions of the uninspiring high school classes.

Is this your homework, Larry?

reply

That stuff might be lost on kids now, but many could appreciate that in the movie in the past and those scenes have touches of humor.

reply

30 years old, love it. 8/10

reply

Correction, it's a movie for people who have once been kids.

reply

Yep, such as me, LionInWinter!
