Underlying motives for negative posts about fbdo

HELLO IM NEW TO IMDB.while browsing fbdo's message boards I was surprised by the negative comments some IMDb member attack ferris ,calling him a sociopath or d bag. Others attacked the movie itself.I don't mind different tastes or opinions, but I wonder if some users allow political bias to affect their views . in another post on the fbdo board, some user made a passing reference to capitalism and greed.IMDb boards for other popular 80s movies have become filled with political comments too. For example, on the message board for the breakfast club ,some poster claimed john Hughes was a racist. Another poster attacked Ronald Reagan.on back to the futures board ,someone insinuated that Robert zemeckesis was a racist. I wonder if the sjw types are behind these efforts . it would be nice if we could have a intelligent discussion of film without politics seeping into the discussion . it seems like you can't enjoy anything in life without political ideology being brought up somehow.

Basically you now have too many sensitive snowflakes. Tragically most of the people doing this probably are the kids of the people who were high school aged when this movie came out....basically the demographic that likely most loved the movie.

Sorry Brother.

Calling Ferris a sociopath is not an 'attack'. Who is the victim of this supposed 'attack' anyway?

Ferris, by any reasonable definition, IS a sociopath. This doesn't make the movie bad, it's just what he is. He has no remorse or guilt from manipulating everyone around him to bend to his will. The only time he looks even slightly worried, is when he is (temporarily) trapped by Rooney near the end.

Just look at how he lies to his parents, especially fooling his caring father on the phone without any remorse whatsoever.

This is a great movie, but people should call a spade a spade, and a sociopath a sociopath.

Sociopaths are great at being charming (check) and manipulating others (check) to get them to do their bidding (check) and do not feel remorse or guilt about their own bad deeds (check) or have any true empathy towards other people (check).

If you want to claim he is NOT a sociopath, the burden of proof sits heavily on YOUR shoulders.

"FBDO" is one of those films where the more you think about it, the less you like it.

At first, it's funny. Then you realize that there's something very off about Ferris and how he treats people. Then you realize there's something very off about a movie industry that presents this rich arrogant sociopathic kid as the height of cool...

But the thing is...the movie wasn't really about Ferris. It was an over-the-top wish fulfillment for teenagers. That was really the gist of the movie. Every kid has dreamed of "cutting school" and having the best day of their lives, getting the upper hand on their elders and having everyone wrapped around their fingers. This movie gave kids who had that urge the perfect way to indulge those feelings.

Uh, even as a teen, my dreams didnt include people like Ferris Bueller, or behaving like him.

I don't know if he's a racist but he's definitely a Rightwing reactionary douchebag, going by Forrest Gump.
