put this into a dvd copy please?

I enjoyed this film--a love story between a Gentile and a Jewish girl. Ntohing spectacular but enjoyable, nevertheless. I hope they will decide to make copies in DVD.

I am waiting for it too, I have never seen it but I am a Tom Hanks DVD collecter, this is the only one I don't have.

This is one of his early movies...set during WWII, in Spain. It is a love story...he is a soldier, she is Jewish...and family won't allow her to marry outside of their religious belief... i am just a sucker for love stories and I hope they will consider making it available on DVD.

I hope you will get to watch it someday!

I am waiting for the DVD too! I have been watching some auctions on EBAY with the VHS but I just keep thinking they are going to release it in DVD. What is the holdup?? One of the most romantic movies. Christina Marsillach is absolutely beautiful and her hard to get, unattainable character make her so irresistable in the movie. Great cast also. and of course Tom Hanks is great. We need the DVD NOW!

reply

it's funny that some of my friends who just love tom hanks haven't even heard of this film! you are right, it is one of the most romantic movies ever...kinda like romeo and juliet--where her parents have absolutely forbidden the lovers to be united. i just love this movie and the song just complements it. (love those songs of that era--i'll be seeing you, the white cliffs of dover, bye, bye blackbird, etc.)

reply

Yes I agree. What is your favorite part? Mine is when they are talking at their friends wedding reception how they cant be together and Tom Hanks tells her fine this is goodbye. Then how you can tell she really wants to tell him how she really feels and wants to be with him, but knows it would be forbidden. Yeah I love the music of this era. WE NEED A DVD AND SOUNDTRACK COPY NOW!! Christina Marsillach is SO BEAUTIFUL in this film. Where is she now??

reply

I just loved that scene too! Soo heartbreaking. I can hardly wait for the producers to finally decide to have this copies into DVD format. We can check out the IMDB biographies of actors to find out about Christina Marsillach. She was just lovely!

The movie is on the "WE" channel right now. I'd never heard of it. I was flipping through the channels and saw the final credit (directed by...) and then I saw Tom Hanks so Istarted watching to see what it was. I didn't recognize it and came to imdb to find out. I'm only about a half hour into it but so far I'm hooked.

reply

I saw it a long, long time ago and I am dying to watch it again! Lucky you! I just received my copy of "One More Kiss" with Gerard Butler--so I am looking forward to watching it tonight. Yey! ;-)

reply

Can anybody please alert the board on to when the next time they will play the movie on T.V again? It will be very much appreciated!!!!!

reply

Sorry, just went off on WE Network like someone else mentioned it playing a month or 2 ago(7/2/05). Reason I was here is to check on what other Movies the female played in. I did a search, but most looked like foreign films to me.

For some reason I felt an attraction to the char. She was a beautiful woman, but it was something about her innocence and becoming a woman(making up her own mind about what was good for her) that attracted me.

Did a lookup at WE channel to see how far ahead they listed movies. Well this movie comes on again this month.

Date and time:
July 18, 2005 9:00PM Central Time Zone
July 19, 2005 11:00AM CTZ

Thank you very much!!

Yes she was so beautiful... I just like how she was a very strong woman, but yet innocent, but that thing about playing so hard to get always does it for me. Where can I meet a girl like this...........

reply

I dont understand why this movie is so poorly rated. I happened to thoroughly enjoy the slow pacing-- albeit the character development couldve been deeper but considering they were from different culturals the amount of character development there seemed fairly realistic.

And yes, Cristina Marsillach is extremely gorgeous. haha

I'd say a solid 7.5/10

I saw this on a Saturday afternoon some years back and thought it was very good. It got my attention because Tom Hanks was in it, but it held my attention right to the end, once I started watching it.

WE is not available in my area, but it's going to be on again this Friday August 26th at 8pm Eastern time. Anyone got a dvd recorder? I would love to have a copy of this film on dvd. Send me a private message if you can help.

It is available on AMAZON.

The movie is set in World War II British Mandate Palestine, not Spain. It may have seemed like Spain because of the Mediterranian environment and because Sarah's family speak Ladino, a nearly dead language spoken by Jews of Spanish descent. I too hope that this film is released on DVD, as I am a fan of both Tom Hanks and Israeli cinema.

reply

Very well put, ha-safran, I am a fan of both also - Tom Hanks as an actor and a person, and Israel as God's chosen people. And yikes, am I probably going to reap a ton over that statement!

This is the film that forged Tom Hanks'path into a dramatic actor along with the very underrated Nothing In Common with the late Jackie Gleason. Everytime We Say Goodbye has a place in my heart for many reasons. One of them is the love story with Hanks and the lovely Cristina Marsilach, you really rooting for them to get together. Another reason is i saw this movie when i was 10 and now being close to 20 years later, it definitely sticks out as one of the better romantic movies i've ever seen and easily can sit on a DVD shelf next to the likes of A Walk In the Clouds and The Notebook.

The movie was released by Tri-Star Pictures which is owned by Sony Pictures, so they have the rights to release and produce a DVD. I really wonder why they have not done so, especially since it's a movie starring Tom Hanks. Perhaps, it could be released when The DaVinci Code comes out since that's a film produced by them. Maybe just maybe, we could actually see it in it's original widescreen format as well because the movie looks like it would really benefit it due to it's beautiful locales. Sign me up for a DVD release!

reply

I wonder, is there any way we can get in touch with Sony Pictures to have released? I am sure there are many who are just dying to have a copy of this lovely, love story! Maybe we can each send a request--that should start the ball rolling. :-)

checking the dates; this thread is kind of old...

but if anyone is still checking in I think I've seen it in recent years in the $5 bin at a ShopKo (Young Tom in a WWII era Uniform on the cover anyway)

so it has since been put on DVD

addendum... Digital TV subchannel 'THiS'has been running Tom Hanks Movies at increasing frequency the last few months and this movie is in rotation as well,
