If you liked this look for The Strange One (1957)

It touches on a lot of the same themes and in some ways does a better job. For a film that came out in the McCarthy Era this film is amazing.

Course I could be biased... Julie Wilson, the club singer who plays Jocko's in-town girl is a personal aquaintance of mine. She went on to be a somewhat sucessful club singer in New York and still appears from time to time around the Big Apple.
