Must Be A Fanboy Forum...

This movie is so boring and what a ridiculously stupid plot. Crabs borrows his brothers car to take a date to the drive-in movies, but when two of his wheels are stolen at the drive-in, he'd rather not have his brother notified about what has happened when there is no other solution in sight.

Also, the idea of being imprisoned in a drive-in is retarded.

I can't believe way back in 1986, they were sending out racial equality messages, trying to condition the masses, especially in Australia.

Hmm.

Personally, I can't believe this place is so deserted, so I don't know where said "fanboys" are. Maybe I'm it.

Before last night I'd never seen this little gem, and I can't believe it took me so long to get to it. Every shot has something interesting going on, every scene is a delight. The colours scorch one's eyeballs and the soundtrack is deliriously of its time. The cast sells a witty script and the stunts are effective. The Exterminating Angel plus Mad Max, indeed. And Tarantino aside, it's pretty clear that Nicholas Winding Refn has also seen this one a few times.

What I liked most about it was how gracefully it went from a disarmingly humourous vision of a dystopian future to genuine claustrophobia and fear.

By "condition the masses", do you mean suggesting that racial intolerance is...bad? That's been known for a bit longer than thirty years. And most of us don't need movies to get that "message".

I think your other criticisms are pretty silly, but that one is textbook race-based trolling under the guise of...well, your faux-"tell it like it is" user name. Fortunately, it looks like I'm the only one here, so it took nine months for you to get a nibble.

And hell, I just wanted to talk about how boss this movie is, not get bogged down in a discussion about why you might want to retire the word "retarded".
