We all know the one reason this was great!

Jack Butler cutting heads!

"You might be human, but your still an animal."

That's the one part that was really bad. Where was the blues?

reply

I'm with ya. There was no blues going on. I guess Ol' Scratch is now into screaming cacophonous guitars. It's really sad that the best music in that blues bar was the Karate Kid playing classical guitar.

It really waxed me off.

My "3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

The blues is nothing spectacular. It's nothing but I-VI-V-dominant VII - repeat. To really show one's chops, one must venture past the blues progression.

reply

There's more to it than the repetitive nature of the chord progression - To me, as someone who has listened to the blues most of my life and played them for over half my life, the challenge of the blues from a technical standpoint lies in the player's ability to impart one's emotional content within the strictures of the song's chord progression and the use of the commonly employed minor scales. In plainer language, you got to give it the soul, son, and keep it stanky.

reply

I hope you are not talking about blues in general. If you are you really don't know the blues.

it's all about building upon a base.

The best part of the movie was when Willie said to the crooked sheriff "I see some things have changed in this county since I was here last but I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same."

Great line about the times.

reply

Okay Steve! I see your post ("Mr. Vai") and yes, you do "cut head" like no one alive but a littel modesty is in order :-) ! You wacky guy, you!

reply

You mean getting his head cut.
